Speak Up and Speak Out
Back in March, I wrote about the blog Ban or Cap and the letting fees debate.
I also wrote that time would tell on the 2016 Autumn Statement announcing that letting agents fees would be banned.
Currently letting agents can charge a number of fees to cover costs such as reference checks, administration and employability checks to tenants. If you didn't see that blog be sure to check it out here http://www.executivepm.co.uk/single-post/2017/03/02/Ban-or-Cap-%E2%80%93-Letting-Fees-Debate
This week in landlordnews.co.uk an article was published regarding this debate and their article title Ban On Agent Fees looks Unavoidable makes an interesting read.
In the article, they state that it's only a question of time and that they would expect to see the change after the next general election.
Arla Propertymark has put together a campaign, which ensures that the Government focuses legislation to ban fees more effectively to meet the objectives of a better deal for tenants and better housing standards.
Having worked within the lettings industry for the majority of my career, I've dealt with all manner of situations and gained some fantastic experience working on behalf of corporate, franchised and high street lettings departments.
In late 2015, I felt that the time was right to put my experience to good use, and decided to create an outsourced property management company to help support lettings departments who are struggling with their workload.
I may not have the answer but by participating in the Arla Propertymark campaign you can voice your thoughts and opinions by using their template to write to your Constituency MP Candidates.
